Description:
DPG is currently seeking a Senior Linux / UNIX System Administrator that will provide Tier 3 technical support to maintain high priority operational systems at a high level of availability, and resolve problems based on mission criticality and guidance. This position is an 8x5 position (with after-hours call-in responsibility).
Duties and Responsibilities include:
· Strong team building skills, with ability to manage and lead an 8-10 person technical team
· Performs software application maintenance on mission systems running a variety of operating systems to include Solaris, Unix, Linux, Windows, and VMS
· Performs routine and preventative maintenance such as general computer tasks, application loads, disk utilization, system loading and system monitoring
· Detects, isolates, documents, quickly reports, and resolves system outages, or problems encountered during operations of the operational system baseline, which includes the collections of diagnostic data, restoring the system operation, development of workarounds, and other activities necessary for recovery of a system
· Accurately document problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools
· Collect data describing the environment at the time of the failure and perform other activities in support of Tier 3 maintenance provider DR investigation and resolution
· Perform system monitoring, analyze and document performance and conduct trend analyses as required
· Also support system engineering groups as required for ongoing analysis and integration efforts
· Environment fluctuates between routine and urgent, depending on ongoing tasks, priorities, and performance of assigned systems
· Works directly with the customer in most aspects of the day-to-day activities
Education/Experience:
· This position requires a University degree and 5 years of relevant experience, OR a Master's degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR 13 years of related experience in lieu of a degree. Military experience may substitute for some requirements. Military technical certification credit for military experience (*military personnel who have been formally trained or have relevant experience obtained while in service versus civilian training).
Requirements:
· Security Clearance - An active and in-scope TS/SCI with CI polygraph U.S. security clearance
· Must have a current DODI 8570.01-M IAT Level II (minimum) Certification or must obtain the certification within the first 60 days of employment.
· Working experience in UNIX or Linux Systems Administration working with customers in technical operations or engineering
· Experience configuring domain information utilities, such as Active Directory, Centrify, LDAP, and DNS
· Strong background and experience troubleshooting and debugging applications
· Experience presenting technical information to customers, clients and/or internal audiences
· A thorough understanding of operating system concepts such as swapping and paging, inter-process communication, and devices and device drivers
· The ability to work effectively with frequent and direct customer interaction in a real-time operational environment
· The ability to work under pressure in restoring high priority systems back to operations
Desired Qualifications:
· Ability to navigate, debug, and modify programs in an advanced programming language
· Ability to write PERL, python, and shell scripts
· Experience with storage products from Oracle/Sun/STK, EMC, IBM, NetApp, and/or DDN
· Experience with virtual / cloud computing technologies using Citrix, VMware, and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
· Working knowledge of thin-client technologies
· Experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
